10 Things to Do with Kids in Greeley This Fall

October 7, 2021

Looking for things to do this cozy season? Our friends at The Group Inc put together a list of 10 things to do this Fall with you kids in Greeley!

Pick pumpkins at Fritzler Farm Park

A tradition for generations of Colorado families, Fritzler Farm Park offers mountains of fun during the fall! This year, their Fall Festival is open through October 31st and includes more than 15 attractions, including a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, pedal go-carts, the Barrel Coaster, paintball, a beer garden, pumpkin blasters and more. For all the details (including haunted attractions and online tickets), click here.

Explore a local corn maze

Getting lost in a sprawling corn maze is the perfect seasonal, family-friendly activity! There are several in the area for you to explore like Hankins Farms Corn MazeJack Lantern’s Northern Colorado Corn MazeTigges Farm and more.

Eat apple pie at Fat Albert’s

What is fall without a sweet, tart and delicious apple pie? Fat Albert’s has all your pie needs covered, whether you’re a fan of apple or pecan pie—or their signature peanut butter pie! This family-owned and -operated restaurant, which is tucked away in the First National Bank Building, has been in operation since 1982. They serve a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads, but it’s their award-winning homemade pies that keep locals coming back again and again. Stop in this fall for a special treat with the whole family!

Go trunk-or-treating

Calling all ghosts and goblins—downtown Greeley has invited you to the least-haunted, safest Halloween event of the season! On October 29th, head downtown for an outdoor trick-or-treating event where you and your family can enjoy exploring local vendor booths, win prizes and grab handfuls of candy from the back of decorated cars. Click here for more information!

Peruse the Colorado Model Railroad Museum

The Colorado Model Railroad Museum began in 2002 as a small passion project driven by big dreams. Today, it’s one of the finest, miniature accomplishments in the world, encompassing 5,500 square feet over five years and 280,000 volunteer hours. Perfect for escaping those chilly fall days, this one-of-a-kind museum showcases hundreds of railroad scenes, more than 500 scale locomotives, 80 scale miles of train track, about 28,000 handmade trees, and thousands of other handmade artifacts.

Hike along the Poudre River Trail

Colorado in the fall is truly a special sight! Bright yellow aspens dot the landscape, offering a kaleidoscope of color right in our backyards. Here in Greeley, you and family can meander down sidewalks and through local parks to catch a peak of the changing leaves. But if you have a little extra time and a stronger craving for fall colors, we recommend taking a scenic hike along the Poudre River Trail! You can get even more information on the website, including a map, wildlife, trail conditions and more.

Listen to a “spooky” story at the library

We love our local libraries. Not only are they great places to check out free books, movies, audiobooks and more—but they also offer a wide range of events all year long. One of our favorite things to do with kids at the library is settling in for storytime with a few librarians and other local children. As we get closer to Halloween, storytimes will start to turn “spooky” featuring some kid-friendly Halloween books, fall crafts, movies and more. Click here for their October calendar and to register for upcoming events!

Make a seasonal craft at Work of Art Greeley

A destination for creativity in Greeley, Work of Art is a fantastic place to learn a new skill—no matter how old you are! They offer workshops for all ages, including several fall-themed ones you don’t want to miss. For older children, they offer a weekly drop-off art camp, which will feature some Halloween and spooky themes this month! For younger children, they offer storytime and pottery painting parties including this month’s theme: The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Click here to explore their upcoming class calendar!

Visit animals at Tigges Farm

Known for their roasted chilies and fresh produce, Tigges Farm also becomes a fall paradise each autumn. This family-owned-and-operated farm offers an admission-free experience complete with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch. One of our favorite things to do with kids at Tigges Farm is visiting all the animals! From horses (and unicorns) to bunnies and birds of prey, Tigges offers plenty of free opportunities to get to know friendly animals this season. Click here for their fall 2021 calendar to start planning your visit!

Get hot chocolate at the Human Bean

Is there a drink kids love more than hot chocolate topped with tons of whipped cream? We think not! This season, don’t miss this opportunity to indulge in a cold-weather classic. There are several places in Greeley that have amazing hot cocoa, but we’re partial to Human Bean’s, a local drive-through coffee stand. And, if you happen to be visiting during a particularly warm day, you can order a frozen hot chocolate instead!

The entire process was smooth and stress free. Hank is awesome, thorough, and did a fantastic job throughout the building and closing process. Billy was awesome as well and was always there to help us. I would absolutely recommend Bessler, and have already. Appreciate you all, and thank you!
