How to Give Back to the Community this Christmas

December 13, 2022

This time of year is all about generosity, gathering with loved ones, and most importantly giving back to your community. The Baessler Homes team is passionate about community involvement all year long, and we found some of the best ways to get involved and give back this holiday season. Whether it’s volunteering your time and resources or attending a charitable event, there are opportunities for the entire family to help those in need during the holidays!

Donate Funds & Resources

Santa Cops of Larimer County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote a positive law enforcement experience with children in Larimer County.  Representatives from local police forces work together to provide toys for children in need to bring smiles to their faces during the holidays. The Fort Collins Police Services, Loveland Police Department, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, Timnath Police Department, the District Attorney’s Office, and Colorado State University Police have made this possible and are kindly asking for toy donations this Christmas.

Realities For Children provides for the emergency and ongoing support needs of children in Northern Colorado who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, or are at-risk.
Help take a child out of darkness by gifting a NightLight on the 50-foot tree in Fort Collins. 100% of your NightLights gift will go directly to emergency services for at-risk children in our community.

Charitable Events

Get out and celebrate the season by running (or walking!) with your family and friends for an amazing cause. The Santa Catch 5K, 10K, and Kid's Fun Run races are taking place at Power 2 Play in Windsor on December 17th, and all participants will receive a Santa Catch beanie, medal, and access to a full hot cocoa bar!  All proceeds from this event will benefit Adopt-A-Family, which serves thousands of local families in need throughout the holiday season.

Habitat for Humanity Greeley-Weld is hosting their annual cookie walk, where participants can purchase a variety of homemade cookies, take photos with Santa, and make ornaments.  This event supports the organization's annual Faith Build, which is a faith-based community group who helps build homes for those in need in Weld County.  The event will be held on December 17th from 9 AM - 12 PM at Zoe's Café & Events in Greeley.

Volunteer your time

Volunteers of America Colorado is a nonprofit, faith-based organization focused on helping those in need with housing and emergency shelters, hunger and nutrition services, and many other community support programs.  With Volunteers of America, you can help out in multiple programs, including serving in a dining center, mentoring young students through the Foster Grandparent Program, or delivering meals to seniors in need with Meals on Wheels.

The Weld Food Bank has a mission to turn the tables on hunger, and they rely heavily on community donations and support to achieve this.  There are a variety of opportunities to give back to Weld Food Bank’s mission including weekdays, some nights, and one Saturday a month. They also offer opportunities with their Mobile Food Pantry program, various special events and even hosting your own food drive.

Baessler Homes is supporting Adopt-A-Family this Christmas with our office giving tree, which helps families experience Christmas and provides resources to achieve self-sustainability.  We have had so much fun giving back for this cause, and we encourage everyone to provide help to someone in need this holiday season!

Annie was awesome. She knows everything about the homes and was able to answer every question we threw at her and helped us in every way that we needed.
